A good portion of the posts here are about opening new credit cards in order to maximize free travel benefits or cash-back rewards. I’ve showed how we took a free trip to Europe, how we got $400-$500 in free money (twice!) and then slayed it with FOUR cross-country, round-trip tickets.
To do all that, we opened four credit cards for each of us (so a total of eight credit cards), within 12-14 months. That’s a lot of credit inquiries and changes to our credit profiles. How does all that action affect our credit score? Short version: it can help it if you do it right. Here’s how we fared.
